Sometimes we can observe anomalies and various types of hymen , resulting in various complications
• Imperforated hymnal opening nonexistent; will require minor surgery if it has not corrected itself by puberty to allow menstrual fluids to escape.
• micro perforate: sometimes confused for imperf orate, the hymnal opening appears to be nonexistent, but has, under close examination, small openings.
• Septate: the hymnal opening has one or more bands of tissue extending across the opening.
In some cultures, an intact hymen is highly valued at marriage to show virginity.
For this reason, some women undergo hymenoplasty, which is a restoration of their hymen.
Hymenoplasty requires local anesthetic and no hospitalization.
To undergo Hymenoplasty procedure, Dr Caroline Osman uses dissolvable stitches to reconnect the skin membrane that once partially covered the opening of the vagina or to reconstruct a flap to do the Hymenoplasty, depending of your case.
Recovery time is about six weeks; risks of infection and fever are very minimal. Subsequent intercourse will tear the membrane causing pain and bleeding.
